Michael Eder – Freelance Business Development
Michael’s journey into climate action began in 2018, hiking across the Alps with The Uninhabitable Earth in his backpack. Confronted by the beauty of nature and the pressures of overtourism, he realized: our system is broken — and he wanted to help fix it.
Since then, Michael has focused his career on aligning business with climate impact. Trained as an economist, he brings over 16 years of international experience in business development, strategic partnerships, and sustainability innovation.
At South Pole, Michael spearheaded the expansion of digital climate solutions across Europe, partnering with leading corporates and platforms such as eBay. At Toco AG, he launched a pioneering carbon-backed currency, building adoption models and partnerships that connected everyday behavior with planetary health. As a Climatebase Fellow, he continues to explore climate innovation, systems design, and public trust at the global level.
Colleagues describe Michael as calm, pragmatic, and inspiring — someone who builds trust and momentum for ambitious ideas. He is especially passionate about regenerative business models, mission-driven organizations, and frameworks like Doughnut Economics and Moral Ambition.
At Dimarjan, Michael leads our efforts to make it possible to scale our regenerative agroforestry projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, connecting verified carbon removals with the co-benefits of food security, livelihoods, water access, and education for rural communities.
